a lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

at the bottom of their pics their tagging:.
if i could, i would post a pic saying something about 1914 or "young ones will never grow old in this system", or any other self damning watchtower saying.. i can't because of the home front situation.

Oscar, ever the pompous but not-so-truly-bright scholar, frequently peppered his orations with hackneyed expressions in order to impress, so he thought, his groaning audience with high-sounding but empty platitudes that these weary listeners, of one accord (for they had conferred upon this very matter), had agreed were little more than the trite ramblings of a ne'er-do-well autodidact.

The clouds have cleared away and,
once again, I see what had never
moved though heart and mind
were blind for that moment
of my enveloping fog . . .
You, my love, never left my side.
Why, then, could I not see you,
nor sense your warmth so
effusive and cheering?
Will I ever know?

Tommy, also known as "lover boy" in the village of Haneyville, ELEV. 2.850, enjoyed many a guilt-free pleasure during this particular evening, a warm summer night. He wasn't immoral by any means -- perhaps merely amoral -- yet Mrs. Manlove showed herself outrightly maniacal and began sliding downward into a frothing tirade when a few locals, well-meaning but only slightly skeptical of Tommy's motivation towards Mary Lou Manlove, declared that boys will be boys and the young miss would surely be all right in the young man's company.
Nonetheless, seeing no good whatsoever in Tommy, Mrs. Manlove was irrevocably and steadfastly cynical that there could reside any decent bone in the wiry frame of the boy who fell to earth . . .

it was a long time coming for me.....when i read about the extened generations, after being raised on1914 being the be all end all, and millions would never die....that was the end.
i was part of the 1975 fiasco, the 6 month only truth book studies, suffered through a disifellowshipping and their version of a rewind.
i finally am free and hope others can eventually look in instead of inside looking out!
Many things, r, but learning 25 years after the fact what had happened to Ed Dunlap cut me deeply. He, a genuine Christian if ever there was one, had been my instructor at Bethel.

Barney snorted at Nanette's assertion that there wasn't a grain of truth in anything he claimed regarding the inability of the brain to withstand continual hammering until its owner should be pronounced insane by the medical authorities.
